John H. Simpson has over 30 years of experience as a leading investment banker and financial services executive. Prior to joining Broadhaven, he was Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Canyon Partners, a global alternative investment firm with over $25 billion in assets under management. Prior to Canyon, Mr. Simpson was Vice Chairman of Wasserstein Perella & Co., where he was a senior mergers and acquisitions professional and ran several of the firm’s largest business units. Prior to joining Wasserstein Perella, he practiced law with Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York and served as a Law Clerk to a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Simpson’s first job was as a Patrol Deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He is a Commissioner (Trustee) of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery, a member of the Board of Directors of Lurie Children’s Hospital, the Vice Chairman of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Discipline Commission (which, under the Illinois Supreme Court, regulates the legal profession in Illinois), and a member of the Board of Directors of Navy Pier.  Mr. Simpson is active in politics and was an Elector from California of the 2012 Electoral College. He is a graduate of Williams College (A.B., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa (junior year), Economics and Political Science) and Harvard Law School (J.D., magna cum laude; Editor, Harvard Law Review).
